LITTLE RIVER, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Fire Rescue cleared the scene of a fatal crash on SC 90 Wednesday afternoon.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol online traffic system, the crash occurred at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday on SC 90 at Carriage Lake Drive. The crash was first reported as an entrapment with injuries, but was later confirmed by Horry County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Brian Van Aernem to be a fatal accident.
Cpl. Sonny Collins with South Carolina Highway Patrol says two cars were involved in the crash, killing two people. A 2000 Cadillac was traveling east on 90 when it ran off the right side of the road, lost control and then got back on the road crossing the center line where it struck a 2011 Toyota Prius heading west.
The man and woman in the Cadillac died, while the driver of the Prius was taken to a hospital. Cpl. Collins reports that the driver of the Prius was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but the Cadillac’s driver and passenger were not.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden says the victims killed in the crash were Christopher Wilson, 48, originally from North Carolina but had recently moved to Conway, and Sandra Burr, 62, of Supply, NC. Both victims dies of traumatic injuries, adds McSpadden.
No charges have been filed. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
