PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WBTW) – A Pawleys Island man died after being shot outside a nightclub early Tuesday morning, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Georgetown County deputies are investigating a shooting in the Pawleys Island area early Tuesday morning, according to Jason Lesley, the public information officer for the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Lesley says deputies responded to 915 Petigru Drive around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning for a reported shooting. A large crowd had gathered outside the building, Lesley describes, and one man was shot.

Lesley says Lamar Easterling, 24, of Pawleys Island, was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound but died from his injuries.

A second person was also taken to the hospital with injuries not resulting from a gunshot, Lesley confirms.

The case is under investigation by the sheriff’s office. Deputies say there is no additional threat to the community.
