GARDEN CITY, SC (WBTW) – A Horry County man is dead after he was shot Wednesday night. The incident happened at a home on Cambridge Circle.

The report from Horry County police says officers responded to the home around 9:20 p.m. to find the victim had been shot and someone was performing CPR on him. The Horry County Coroner’s office says the 43-year- old man died in the emergency room at Waccamaw Hospital just before 10 p.m.

Thursday afternoon, Horry County Coroner Darris Fowler identified the victim as Paul Smith of Garden City. The autopsy conducted Thursday morning reflected the man died from a gunshot wound that caused mass hemorrhage to a vital organ.

According to Public Information Officer Krystal Dotson with the Horry County Police Department, 43-year-old Heidi Smith was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.  The report from police says Smith was next to the victim inside the home when officers arrived.

Smith was released from the J Reuben Long Detention Center Friday on a $5,000 bond.
