It’s the end of the VCR.
According to the New York Times, the last company still making VCRs will stop production at the end of this month. The main reason is due to “difficulty acquiring parts.”
The Funai Corporation of Japan said that 750,000 units were sold worldwide in 2015. In the past, the company had produced millions.
VCRs were first introduced in the 1950s, and gained mass appeal by the 1980s with machines priced from $600 to $1200 dollars.
DVD players were first released in 1997.
