CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – Surgeon General Vivek Murthy will speak next month at commencement exercises at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The university announced Monday that Murthy, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate last year as the nation’s 19th surgeon general, will address about 600 graduates at MUSC in Charleston on May 15.
The surgeon general is considered America’s doctor and serves as a spokesman to provide information on ways to improve the health of America’s citizens.
He also oversees the operations of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, which has 6,700 uniformed public health officers.
