State officials said Friday that a half-mile of a northbound lane of I-95 will be closed for more than 6 weeks starting next week — a few days later than earlier planned — while crews work on a bridge.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation will be working on a bridge deck replacement on one span of the bridge over the Great Pee Dee River Bridge near the Florence-Dillon county line, now starting 4 days later than planned.
The original start date of Saturday, March 7 was pushed back to Wednesday, March 11.
The half-mile lane closure at northbound mile marker 176 will sadly not end any earlier despite the later start-date — which has affected the end date.
The single lane closure will remain in place continuously for 45 days while crews work to perform the deck replacement and plan to reopen all lanes to traffic on Saturday, April 26 at 6 a.m.
Over Size-Over Weight (OSOW) trucks will be restricted to 11′ wide loads. All vehicles exceeding 11′ in width shall use the posted detour route.
The posted detour route will be I-95 North to Exit 170 (SC 327) to SC 327 to US 76/ US 301 to US 301 to SC 38. The detour route will end by OSOW trucks returning to I-95 North at Exit 181.
Motorists traveling along this northbound section of I-95 are advised to use caution in the work zone and to expect traffic congestion.
