United Way of Horry County met its $1.275 million fundraising goal!

United Way set a campaign end date of April 30, and we are happy to report our volunteers met it!

“This campaign’s success is because of volunteers who worked so hard to get the message out and reach existing and new donors, and about the donors who gave so generously at all levels,” said United Way of Horry County President Genie Sherard.

2015 United Way Campaign Chair Lisa Bourcier put together a fabulous team, and kept them motivated and excited all season long.  She worked tirelessly calling donors, writing letters, and finding new avenues and methods to pursue.

Her leadership team of Justin Lee, Lynn Carmon, Collier Schettig, Gregg Turbeville, Esther Murphy, Dana Groome, Edwin Hinds, and Marc Jordan worked their areas thoroughly.  Dennis Wade started a new giving level called the Crescent Society, which adds a new dimension for our top donors.  Rebecca Hinds and Matt Sedota took on the leadership of our Community Outreach Council, which served as an extension of our campaign volunteers.  Cathe Singleton led the Speakers Bureau, who got out there and told the story. Together, the people who touched this campaign made up one big army with one big goal for the community.

“The gifts are from the community to the community.  They are given by the citizens who are able to the citizens who need help,” said Sherard.

The last time United Way of Horry County met its fundraising goal was in 2011.
