CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Hundreds of UNC Chapel Hill students staged a walkout Wednesday to express anger at the results of the presidential election.
Students said they were shocked by the results.
“Everybody that I surrounded myself with didn’t think this could happen,” said Holly Roberts.
“I was devastated by the results of this election, and I’m absolutely disgusted with the fact that our country can stand for such negative things,” Sakile Trowers said.
Some students worry that having Donald Trump as president will make life tougher for minorities. They said the point of the walkout was to figure out how to bridge that gap.
“It brings us together as a campus because a lot of the times we separate due to differences we may have,” Trowers said. “But we still have all these people around here to support us.”
