BRITTON’S NECK, SC (WBTW) – Two schools in Marion County are still closed in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
Marion County School District Public Information Officer Deborah Wimberly says class is not back in session at Britton’s Neck Elementary and Creek Bridge Middle-High School because officials haven’t been able to get in and assess the damage
Wimberly says Britton’s Neck took a hard hit from Hurricane Florence and just last week, the roads were severely flooded and posed a safety hazard to anyone driving in and out of the area. Wimberly says officials plan to get a complete review of the damage, make necessary repairs, and get students back to class as soon as safely possible. We’re also told all of the other schools are fine and students went back to school last Thursday. Wimberly tells News13 some schools had minor damage like roof leaks.
