Two Marion County schools closed Thursday due to power problem

MARION, SC (WBTW) – Marion County School District says classes for two schools is cancelled today due to a power problem in the Centenary area. Britton’s Neck Elementary and Creek Bridge Middle/High School will be closed Thursday, Dec. 15.

Deborah Wimberly with Marion County Schools released the following statement:Due to the fact that Duke Energy indicates the power problem in the Centenary area will not be restored until noon Britton’s Neck Elementary is without power and has no way to heat the building.  Since families have children at both Britton’s Neck and Creek Bridge Middle/High School, The Marion County School District is closing school at both locations.  Students that were picked up by the bus this morning were taken to Creek Bridge High School so they could be in a warm environment.  If parents or guardians are able to pick their children up, please pick them up from Creek Bridge High School.  Buses will be leaving Creek Bridge at 9:15 to carry students back to their home.  School will resume on a regular schedule tomorrow.
