NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- Two first responders were honored Wednesday with the North Myrtle Beach Optimist Club Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year awards.
The awards were presented by senator Greg Hembree to firefighter Jennifer Hanna and Police Sergeant Heather Swarthout.
Both women passed away last year, Hanna in a motorcycle crash and Swarthout to a sudden illness.
The awards were accepted by Fire Chief Garry Spain and Chief of Police J Phillip Webster.
