ROWLAND, NC (WBTW) – An argument among several people on North Hickory Street in Rowland Monday night ended with two people being shot, police say.
Chief John Reeves with Rowland Police Department says 33-year-old Nekeia Shaw is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into an occupied property. An argument led to Shaw pulling a gun and shooting it into the crowd, Chief Reeves says.
Two people were shot in the exchange. One victim was shot in the stomach and was taken to the hospital for surgery, but that victim’s condition is unknown at this time. The second victim was grazed by a bullet that went inside of a nearby house, confirms Chief Reeves.
Shaw was granted a $20,000 bond and was released from the Robeson County Detention Center.
The shooting is still under investigation as investigators are trying to learn more about a second weapon used during the crime, Chief Reeves adds.
