CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Two of the five men arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman at a party in Conway are Coastal Carolina University students and the school has restricted the two men from campus.
According to a university statement provided by CCU spokesperson Martha Hunn, the two sexual assault suspects restricted from the school’s campus are Raheen Levar Linnen and Javon Johnson.
The complete statement from the university is below:
The following students were restricted from campus immediately upon notice of arrest:
- Raheen Levar Linnen, 24, of Georgetown
- Javon Johnson, 21 of Conway
This measure is taken during the University administrative process to protect all parties and the integrity of the investigation.
Within 48 hours of the reported sexual assault which took place at a home on Barberry Drive, a cease of operation letter was sent to the Coastal Carolina University chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
The letter states, in part, that, “all activities of the Coastal Carolina University chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. are suspended at Coastal Carolina University. This suspension is effective immediately and is a result of concerning reports of behavior and potential violations received by the University.”WEB EXTRA: View the cease of operation letter sent to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity
Hunn confirmed Johnson is a member of CCU’s chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. School officials would not directly connect the March 12 sex crime to the suspension of the fraternity’s activities.
Hunn says the information related to the “concerning reports of behavior and potential violations” mentioned in the cease of operation letter is not public information and the university does not have to disclose the nature of the behavior that sparked the group’s suspension.
The men arrested in connection with the March 12 attack are Matthew Tyler Goodwin, 25, Javon Lorenz Johnson, 21, and Diquan Rashawn Paulin, 21, all of Conway, as well as Roman Avedis Ferguson, 20, of Sumter, and Raheen Levar Linnen, 24, of Georgetown.
