Police have arrested two men in connection to a shooting at a nightclub in Marion that occurred on Sunday. 

Police arrested Derrick Dequavius Smith and James Earl Foxworth, III in connection to the shooting, according to Marion Police Chief Tony Flowers. The shooting happened outside a nightclub on South Main Street in Marion. 

Both are charged with Attempted Murder, Discharging a Firearm Into a Vehicle While Occupied, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person, Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm In the City Limits, and Malicious Injury to Personal Property, Value $2,000 or less. 

Both men are currently being held at the Marion County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

The shooting occurred when the victim was trying to drive away from the scene after being assaulted by a number of individuals outside a nightclub. Chief Flowers says Smith and Foxworth approached the vehicle and fired several rounds into the driver side, resulting in the victim being struck directly by one of the bullets and grazed by another. 

The victim was transported to MUSC in Mullins, where he was treated for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
