Two arrested for prostitution after argument over money at Myrtle Beach area hotel

Two people were arrested and charged after an argument at a Myrtle Beach area hotel.

A police report from the Horry County Police Department says officers responded to a hotel at 220 Whitty Drive around 8 p.m. on Saturday in reference to a possible domestic situation in progress. Upon arriving, officers found two people in the parking lot arguing.

According to the report, officers spoke with a man, identified in the report as 54-year-old Randy Alvis Haynes, who said he and a woman, identified as 32-year-old Tamaira Ford, had agreed upon $50 for sex. Haynes then said after sex, Ford took over $100 from him. Haynes also said he grabbed Ford to get his money back and they wrestled over the money until others in the hotel separated them.

Ford told police she and Haynes had agreed upon sex for money, according to the report. She said she didn’t have sex with Haynes and that he was not satisfied with their encounter and went to retrieve his money.

Ford also said to police she and Haynes made an agreement and the money was now hers. She said she clenched it to her chest and Haynes grabbed her by the throat and tried to pull the money out of her hands.

Haynes was seen grabbing Ford by the throat by hotel management on hallway cameras as well as by multiple residents, according to the report.

Both were arrested and taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking records show Ford was booked around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday and released around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. She is charged with prostitution.

Haynes was booked around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, according to booking records. He remains in the center and is charged with prostitution and assault and battery in the third degree.
