Two people are charged after police say they threatened a man with a hammer and forced him to withdraw money from an ATM at a Myrtle Beach motel.

A man told police that Mario Antoine Phoenix demanded that he pay back $100 that he owed Phoenix. The man then said Phoenix forced him to go to Phoenix’s vehicle where Phoenix grabbed a hammer. A police report suggests Phoenix then threatened to hit the victim with the hammer and later threatened to ‘blow him away’ if he did not get the money.

That’s when the victim said he and Phoenix, along with another suspect and the victim’s wife, went to an ATM at the Crepe Myrtle Inn. The man said Phoenix was forcibly pushing him in the back as they walked to the ATM.

Once at the ATM, the man said he was forced to put his pin in and that the suspects pulled out $200, at least three times.

The man said Phoenix and the second suspect, Marie Anntoine Ross, then left the area in two vehicles.

The police report states that the victim’s wife was able to corroborate the victim’s statement.
