MAYFIELD, Ky. — A Kentucky TV meteorologist and her husband were arrested on Tuesday on marijuana charges, according to Kentucky State Police.
Tori Shaw Smoyer, age 32, who is a meteorologist for WPSD-TV was arrested with her husband, 35-year-old Tyler Smoyer, both of Mayfield.
They were charged with firearm enhanced cultivating five or more marijuana plants, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Kentucky State Police.
The cultivation charge is a felony, and the other charges are misdemeanors.
Authorities say the arrests were made after troopers responded to an anonymous tip of an indoor marijuana grow operation.
Troopers say they found five marijuana plants, six long guns, two pistols, two silencers, eight storage boxes of ammunition, a tactical vest, and multiple items used to grow marijuana, as well as two more marijuana plants found in a trash can behind the residence.
Both were jailed in the Graves County jail. They have since been released.
