MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Travelers passing through Myrtle Beach International Airport could spend less time in line waiting to pass through security.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) opened a permanent site at MYR for its precheck application program. The program offers a quicker screening program that allows people to leave their shoes, light overcoats, and belts on.
Flyers can also keep laptops in their cases and keep compliant liquids in a carry-on bag.
The application center is at the King’s Festival Shopping Center on North Kings Highway and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
U.S. citizens and other permanent residents can apply online. Then make an appointment to complete the process in-person.
“We can allow them to keep their shoes on, their belt their light outerwear. They can also keep their laptops and their liquids inside the bag so the process is a much speedier process than the standard screening you may be used to,” explains Mark Howell, TSA Regional Spokesperson.
