Authorities say a TSA officer is dead after an incident at the Orlando International Airport that caused some flight delays Saturday morning.

Orlando police say a man jumped from the Hyatt Regency Hotel into the atrium area of the airport on Saturday morning and died.

The TSA later released a statement saying the man who died was an officer who, “fell from a hotel balcony inside Orlando International Airport.” According to a TSA spokeswoman, the officer had just clocked out and was off-duty at the time.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the officer’s family, friends and everyone in our TSA family,” the agency said in a statement.

Airport officials say people waiting to go through security for terminals 70 through 129 rushed past the screening area after the officer jumped.

Those terminals are temporarily closed while airport officials make sure everyone has gone through the proper security screening. Terminals 1 through 70 were not closed, according to WESH.

Robert Richardson, a reporter for WBTW’s sister station WNCN was at the airport at the time of the incident.
