MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) – Officers with the Transportation Security Administration at Myrtle Beach International Airport showed off dozens of items passengers had attempted to board flights with that are on the list of prohibited items.
The table top was full of knives, nun chucks, switchblades, hidden blades, brass knuckles, and other weapons. There were also containers of liquids on display as what not to bring through TSA security checkpoints.
TSA agents wanted to remind travelers of these rules and to show that it isn’t always intentional when a passenger is caught with these items.
“People aren’t always thinking about what’s in their bag,” said TSA Supervisor Greg Szupillo. “They’re really not coming through with ill intent to use these items as weapons on the security checkpoint or things like that.”
According to agents, any time a passenger is found to have a gun in his or her bag, local law enforcement are called to investigate. TSA reports four guns found in bags at MYR in 2013 and three guns found in 2014.
