PEMBROKE, NC (WBTW) – A toddler died after being hit by a vehicle in Robeson County on Tuesday.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called to investigate a crash on NC 710 south of I-74, south of Pembroke, on Tuesday around 7:15 p.m., according First Sergeant Michael D. Baker, with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
A preliminary investigation reportedly revealed that a 2003 Toyota Camry was traveling north on NC 710, Baker said. A 2-year-old was reportedly “traveling west from 2129 NC Hwy 710 S.”
The child reportedly “darted in the roadway” and was hit by the vehicle.
The child died from their injuries at the scene.
Mesca Tenelle Bullard, of Maxton, was identified by Baker as the operator of the Toyota Camry.
Baker also said “no impairing substance was detected” and that speed doesn’t appear to be a factor.
No other information about the crash is available.
