NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Titans starting linebacker Avery Williamson had custom football cleats made to honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
The shoes are star-spangled and emblazoned with “Never Forget” and “9-11-01.”
Williamson retweeted media reports saying he had hoped to wear the shoes at Sunday’s Titans game on Sept. 11 against the Minnesota Vikings but was told the shoes violated the NFL’s uniform policy.
Williamson announced on Twitter that he would instead auction the cleats online, with the proceeds to be donated to Warrior Wishes.
