MURRELLS INLET, SC – Area residents can help turn the community into a sea of pink by joining the Tidelands Health Foundation’s annual “In the Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Walk Saturday, Oct. 1, in Murrells Inlet.

The two-mile walk, which draws more than 1,000 participants from the community every year, will begin at Waccamaw Medical Park East on Highway 17 Bypass and wind along the Marsh Walk.

Events will get underway at 8:30 a.m. with registration, music, a vendor expo and complimentary Shutterbooth photos. The walk will begin at 10 a.m.

Community members and participants also can honor a friend or loved one by purchasing a “butterfly of hope” for $5 and pinning it to a “hope” board at the event.  Purchasers’ names will be entered into a drawing for a gift package from the day spa at Tidelands HealthPoint Center for Health and Fitness. The package includes Dermalogica products, a classic facial treatment and a one-hour classic Swedish massage.

Registration, which includes a T-shirt, is $25 through Aug. 29 and will increase to $30 after that date.
