COLUMBIA (AP) – Kamryn Lemon had a steal and layup with 1:16 remaining to give Dreher the lead for good and the Blue Devils claimed their third Class 3A girls title in six years with a 45-41 victory over Myrtle Beach Saturday.
Lemon added an assist on Carla Brown’s basket for the final margin.
Dreher had a 41-29 lead early in the fourth quarter but the Seahawks responded with a 12-0 run to tie it at 41 with 2:04 remaining. Dreher suffered through a five-minute scoring drought to allow Myrtle Beach back into it.
Lemon was the Blue Devils’ leading scorer with 14 points and Jaelyn Murray had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jhileiya Dunlap added 12 points and six blocks.
Nia Sumpter finished with 11 points for Myrtle Beach. The Seahawks shot 24.6 percent and fell behind at the half 26-17 after shooting 20 percent in the first half.Class A Boys Championship
