The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at Sampit Community Park on Powell Road on Thursday evening.
A press release from the office says three people suffered gunshot wounds during an altercation and were transported to a hospital for treatment. The park is located about ten miles west of the city of Georgetown in the community of Sampit.
A group of individuals arranged to meet for a fight on Thursday evening at the park, according to the release. Witness reports say a vehicle pulled up to the scene and multiple shots were fired.
No information has been released on suspects, the identities of the victims or their conditions. Several investigators were seen searching the park with flashlights Thursday night, around a pavilion near a playground.
An investigation is ongoing.
