DARLINGTON, S.C. – Three Darlington High School (DHS) student-athletes signed national letters of intent on Wednesday to play collegiate athletics next year.

Jordan Bishop, Xavier Murray and Thomas Wheeler inked their names to the letters in a room full of family, friends and school administrators.

Bishop and Murray will both run track for Coker College in Hartsville, and Wheeler will head to St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, North Carolina to play football.

Bishop ran varsity cross country at DHS for two years and varsity track for three years. He qualified for the state cross-country competition in 2015. The same season, he earned recognition as All-Region for Region 6-3A. He ran a personal best 5K time of 18:07, which ranks 10th best in DHS history.

Murray also ran cross-country at DHS for two years and track for three. He qualified for the state cross-country competition in 2015. He earned All-Region honors for both cross-country in 2015 and the track 4×800-meter relay in 2016. Murray’s personal best 5K time of 18:22 ranks 13th all-time at DHS.

Wheeler recorded a spectacular senior season for the Falcons, primarily as a running back. In 11 games, he rushed for 988 yards and 13 touchdowns on 140 carries. As a receiver, Wheeler grabbed 16 receptions for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
