DARLINGTON- Darlington’s football program has been on the rise the last few years, and while they didn’t have the season they hoped for in 2014, they still have athletes who will play in college.

Shakeem Thomas is most recent athlete to sign. The Falcons quarterback will play for Orangeburg-Calhoun Prep next year.

Last season, he threw for 1,600 yards and had nine total touchdowns.

“I feel excited to sign to Orangeburg-County Tech. And I think I’ll be good down there once I get down there because I feel like it’s a great fit for me. And I feel I have a better chance of starting down there to show my talents,” Thomas said.

Two Darlington basketball players also signed on Friday. Justin Jackson is headed to Morris College.

“They’re in the middle of a rebuilding process, and I thought it’d be a good fit for me, so I can just show my talents as well as everybody else going there. So it’ll be a good fit,” Jackson said.

Girls basketball standout Deanna House is headed to Allen University in Columbia.

“I’m very excited, and it’s nerve-wracking a little bit because I never thought I would sign,” House added.
