Thieves targeting luxury cars at dealerships in SC

Police in the Charleston area are looking for three luxury vehicles stolen from three dealerships in the past week.

Police say the vehicles had a combined value of more than $200,000.

Despite the cars being equipped with high-end GPS systems, the vehicles have not been found.

Officers told local media outlets that a 2015 Audi A8 L TDI Quattro was taken from a Charleston dealership March 11.

The car, valued at just under $100,000, was parked in front of the showroom.

An employee said a key for the vehicle had been switched with an older key to another Audi, the Charleston Post and Courier reported.

Mount Pleasant officers responded to the theft of a red 2015 Chevy Camaro Z-28 Coupe on March 11. That car, valued at just under $75,000, was parked in a front lot.

A 2011 Mercedes S63 AMG was taken from a Charleston dealer March 14.

No arrests have been made. Police have not determined whether the thefts are related.
