FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A local program is seeking help replenishing their supply of diapers and baby products after a break in depleted their stock Sunday, according to their website.
Lighthouse Ministries on East Elm Street says the burglars stole over $6,000 worth of items they provide for low-income working mothers who attend life skills, parenting, and budgeting classes through the organization, the website says.
Lighthouse stockpiles blankets, car seats, and several home goods items such as blenders, a toaster over, and flatware as incentives for the mothers, but the most high need items are diapers and pull-ups.
“Diapers for working mothers were once stacked 5 feet high,” the web page said of their previous diaper closet.
In response to the number of calls and emails they received, Lighthouse Ministries created a GoFund Me page for those who wished to help restock supplies through a monetary donation.
“Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, and reached out to ask how they can help. We know that so often, it is easy to be dismayed by the bad that occurs in this world. We want to thank you for showing how much good there is too,” the website said.
In addition to monetary donations, they are accepting boxes of diapers, baby clothes, laundry detergent, formula, canned goods, and hygiene products like lotion, wipes and baby wash.
In the first seven hours of starting the fundraising page, Lighthouse Ministries had already raised over $2,200.
