SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA/WBTW) – Stuffing or dressing? The annual debate about the popular Thanksgiving dinner dish is back.

Some say if it’s cooked inside the turkey, it’s “stuffing.” If it’s cooked in a dish, others say it’s “dressing.”

Although, most people up north refer to it as “stuffing” regardless of how it is prepared. The same holds true for “dressing” in the south. No matter how it is prepared, southerners call it “dressing.”

According to history.com, up until the 1850s, everyone referred to it as “stuffing.”
