HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – Hartsville Police arrested a 17-year-old in connection to a fatal shooting in February, according to a press release from the police department.
Gregorio Brunson, of Sumter Avenue in Hartsville, is charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime. Those charges are related to the death of Chance Polson who was found lying in the middle of Poole Street on February 24.
Brunson’s arrest was part of a special operation by the Hartsville Police Department to combat violence involving firearms in the city, the press release read. The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the operation.
Six other people were also arrested during the special operation. Their names and charges follow:
- Marquis Hixon – Open Container
- Justine Peterson – Simple Possession of Marijuana
- Kaelin Brunson – Simple Possession of Marijuana
- Jelonta Bacote – Simple Possession of Marijuana. Officer also served two bench warrants on Jelonta Bacote, both for Simple Possession of Marijuana.
- Devon Nickelson – Simple Possession of Marijuana
- Damian White – Simple Possession of Marijuana
In February, Darlington County Coroner J. Todd Hardee said Polson, 35, of Hartsville, died from a gunshot wound to the head. Hardee ruled the death a homicide.
Hartsville Police Lt. Mark Blair said officers were dispatched to Poole Street around 7 p.m. after receiving a call about a person possibly being run over by a vehicle. The driver of the car did not leave the scene, and fully cooperated with officers, Lt. Blair adds. According to Hardee’s release, it was discovered Polson was not killed by being struck by a vehicle and police add the driver is not facing charges at this time.
