WASHINGTON, N.C. – Some of the world’s best cornhole players are from the area and people travel from all over the country to compete against them.
One Maryland teen is now a part of the Beaufort County family.
Dayton Webber, 18, had his limbs amputated when he was just a baby. When it comes to cornhole, nobody notices the difference.
“I just do everything everybody else does,” Webber said.
The Junior Maryland Cornhole State champion spent his holiday in Washington. He said it was all for the cornhole, “This is where the greatest throwers in cornhole are.”
North Carolina is home to some of the best cornhole players in the world. The reigning doubles champion is from Martin County.
Cornhole is about more than just throwing a bean bag into a hole, it’s about community.
“We all kind of become friends before we become competitors,” said Frank Modlin, a Double’s World champion. He’s now a part of the Washington family. They don’t just respect him for his mean cornhole. They respect his character.
“If we all could ya know just be a little bit like him, it’d be a whole lot better place,” Modlin said.
A number of people from the area will compete at the Cornhole World Championship Tournament in July.
