Teen, 20-year-old charged with armed robbery at Myrtle Beach party

A 20-year-old man is charged with armed robbery during a party in Myrtle Beach. Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy, and he is facing an armed robbery charge too.

Emmanuel Burroughs, 20, of Myrtle Beach, knocked on a door and pulled out a gun while demanding money at an apartment on Maypop Circle on Monday night, according to Horry County Police. Witnesses at the apartment said it was around 10:45 p.m., and they told police Burroughs repeatedly asked for the whereabouts of someone he was trying to find as well as asking “where is the money?”

Witnesses said another person, now identified as Jashon Brainard, 16, of Myrtle Beach, was with Burroughs at the time. They said the two eventually began to run away, but several people at the apartment fought with Burroughs in an attempt to stop him.

Police believe Burroughs dropped the gun during that fight as he ran away.

Officers were then called to a nearby apartment complex where they found Burroughs and Brainard. Brainard was suffering from a superficial stabbing wound, Horry County Police said.

Burroughs was arrested and taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center. After a trip to the hospital, Brainard was remanded to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to be charged with armed robbery as an adult.
