CONWAY, SC (WBTW) –  The new Horry County Police Chief was sworn-in Friday.

Chief Joesph Hill was there with his wife and family for the official swearing-in ceremony at the Conway Courthouse..

“It feels good. I’m ready to serve. I’ve been here for two weeks. I’m getting to know the area, getting to know the community, the officers. I’m very proud of the officers. There are some outstanding folks that work for Horry County and some great citizens, and I’m just excited to get out there and learn who they are and see what their needs and challenges are so I can help them,” Hill said after the ceremony.

Hill and all of the officers stood up and took an oath of honor – something he says they will do each time they come together now.

Hill said he has plans to make this the best department in the nation.

County leaders and representatives from multiple agencies including Atlantic Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Horry County Sheriff’s Office, and people from his former department were all there to support him.
