CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A suspicious package that delayed the opening of the Horry County Government and Justice Center on Monday morning turned out to be — a stuffed unicorn.
The suspicious package was discovered Monday morning by maintenance staff, according to Kelly Moore, Horry County Government spokesperson. Multiple crews were called to the scene at about 6:45 a.m. to investigating the package.
Moore said the package was found in a location that doesn’t typically have a package over the weekend. The call was made “out of an abundance of caution,” Moore said.
The center delayed opening and operations until 9 a.m. due to the investigation. Later in the morning, the package was determined to be safe.
It turns out, the package contained a stuffed animal for use in the county’s Victim’s Advocate Office. It was recently ordered by the Solicitor’s Office through grant funding.
“This little guy, along with other stuffed animals and toys, will help comfort children who have been impacted by crime in our community,” the county posted on social media.
Horry County Police, Conway Police, and Conway Fire Department assisted in the investigation.
