NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The North Charleston Police Department has arrested two suspects in connection to a deadly shooting that happened near Durant Avenue and North Jimtown Drive Monday night.

Authorities responded to the scene just after 11 p.m. where they found Chadwick Garrett,45, suffering from a gunshot wound in the roadway and bleeding from his mouth.

According to the North Charleston Police Department, Garrett helped the two suspects pull a Dodge Durango out of a ditch near his home, and asked them for $20 in return for the favor.

After he got the car out of the ditch, the suspects robbed and then shot him to death. Garrett died on scene around 11:15 p.m.

Investigators were able to locate Deon Frasier, 17, and Michael Dupree-Tyler, 19, at an apartment on Dorchester Road where they were taken into custody and then charged.

Frasier is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, Dupree-Tyler faces murder charges.

Both suspects were denied bond at a bond hearing Tuesday. Garrett’s father spoke to the two suspects in bond court.

The North Charleston Police Department is still investigating.
