NEW CASTLE, DE (WBTW) – Two people charged in the May 7 kidnapping of a convenience store clerk in Surfside Beach have been extradited to Horry County from Delaware, according to online booking records.
The kidnapping happened early on Sunday, May 7 at the Scotchman Convenience Store located at 1272 Dick Pond Road near Highway 17 Business. Investigators said the clerk was forced into the trunk of her own car, but she was able to escape a few hours later in North Carolina.
Nazjier Ferrell, 18, of New Castle, Delaware, and Destiny Kristyle Simmons, 18, of Surfside Beach, were arrested May 12. The detectives made the arrests in New Castle, Delaware, according to Krystal Dotson, the public information officer for the Horry County Police Department.
Online booking records indicate Ferrell and Simmons were extradited back to Horry County and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Simmons was booked June 6 on one kidnapping charge and Ferrell was booked June 28 on kidnapping and armed robbery.
Records show no bail has been set for either suspect. Ferrell’s next court date is set for November.
