LANDRUM, SC (WSPA) – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect was shot and killed during an undercover operation in Landrum, Friday.
The coroner has identified the man killed as 63-year-old Alexis George Mishtowt. Mishtowt died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner.
Several officers were present at the at the time of the shooting on Bird Mountain Road.
Sheriff Chuck Wright says he believes the shooting was justified. Wright also said that the suspect was heavily armed and pointed a gun at his deputy.
Nobody else was injured during the operation.
One person was detained by the Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
