MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach Police have released photos of two suspects who they say are wanted for breaking into the Purple Haze Smoke Shop on January 9.
An incident report from Myrtle Beach Police states on January 9 officers responded to a burglary at Purple Haze, located at 704G Seaboard Street, around 5:30 a.m. Police found that the burglar had tried to cut a small piece of the front door glass out to access the lock from the inside. After not having
success with that attempt, the burglar busted through the bottom half of the glass door to get into the store.
Once inside, the thief went straight to the back of the store where the high priced glass work is located, the report states. Several high priced items were taken from the shelf, and police note that it’s “as if the suspect knew what he / she was looking for once inside.”
The burglar had cut off all power to the inside of the store prior to breaking in through the front door, and police note that “the suspect knew enough about the building itself that the main power box behind the store was cut off before making entry.” The power was manually turned back on at 5:40 a.m., approximately 10 minutes after the crime is believed to have been committed.
The thief stole more than $9,000 worth of items from the store. Police note that Purple Haze Smoke Shop in Socastee “was hit” while officers were still on scene at the Myrtle Beach location January 9.
Anyone with information on the identity of the two suspects pictured or the Toyota Rav4 is asked to call Myrtle Beach Police at 843-918-1382.
