A man who authorities say kidnapped a teen girl from Chesterfield County late last month has been caught, Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office says.

The 14-year-old girl, who was taken from New Heights Middle School in Jefferson, SC the morning of Jan. 30, was found 4 days later.

Although the teen was found and was safe, authorities still wanted to find 43-year-old Harland Donnell Melton, who was considered “armed and dangerous” by authorities.

Melton was captured in Curry County, Oregon, authorities in South Carolina said Friday night.

Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay L. Brooks is in contact with the Curry County Sheriff’s Office and SLED.

(We’re) “making plans to send a deputy and SLED Agent to Oregon to bring Melton back to South Carolina,” the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.

According to deputies, Melton was traveling in a stolen white Ford F-350 pickup truck with SC Farm tags. Earlier it was believed he was in a Black 1999 Nissan Maxima with SC tag number IUF 593.
