Suspect in Lumberton shooting turns himself in

LUMBERTON, N.C. -The suspect in a Sunday shooting incident turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday.

Brandon Devon McMillian, 29, was taken into custody on charges of first degree murder and possession of a firearm by felon in the death of Julius Smith.

Police responded to Chambers Street and Crandlemire Road July 17 in regard to a call of shots fired. Before the officers arrived, a second call came in that someone had been shot.

When they arrived, they found the victim and transported Smith to the hospital where he died.
