A suspect is in custody after a bank robbery at a BB&T in Little River.

A police report from the Horry County Police Department says officers responded to the bank at 1702 Highway 17 around 4:45 p.m. for a bank robbery. A victim told police she saw the suspect, 38-year-old Anthony W. McKeithan, in the bank and told him she would be right with him. The suspect then went to his car and came back inside. When the victim called the suspect to the counter, he slid a hand-written note to her. Details on what the note said are redacted from the report.

According to the report, the victim told police she wasn’t sure if the suspect went back to his car to get a weapon, so she did what the note said and gave all of her $100 bills to the suspect. The suspect then left the bank, fleeing towards Brunswick County, North Carolina in a gray Chrysler 300 with tinted windows.

The suspect was described in the report as a white male with “crew cut short dirty blonde hair.” The reports says he possibly has a tattoo in script on the left side of his neck and a forearm tattoo, possibly a flame or tribal, that covers most of his arm. He was wearing black glasses, a white t-shirt, dark colored shorts, and flip flops at the time of the robbery.

According to Horry County Police Department Captain John Harrelson, McKeithan was taken into custody this morning during a traffic stop by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and will be extradited back to Horry County as soon as possible.

Booking records for the Brunswick County Detention Center show McKeithan was booked around noon on Wednesday. He is charged with resisting a public officer and extradition/fugitive of another state. His bond is set at $755,000.
