MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A shooting near Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach Wednesday night (June 27, 2018) killed one person, according to a police report.
According to Captain Joey Crosby with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, officers responded to the area of 29th Avenue North and Bypass 17 just after 9 p.m. Wednesday following a shooting.
Javaline Dawkins, 42, of Loris, has been charged with murder and kidnapping. He also faces weapons charges.
An off-duty officer heard the gunshots and immediately reported the information to dispatch, Capt. Crosby confirms. The investigation shows that the shooting happened on the road, hitting one person.
Capt. Crosby says officers who arrived on scene performed CPR on the victim in an effort to save his life. EMS and first responders arrived on scene and continued to provide aid to the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he later died, says Capt. Crosby.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard identifies the victim as Ryan Rasheed Bryant, 27, of Columbus County, North Carolina.
