DILLON, SC (WBTW) – Dillon police released the incident report Tuesday on the stabbing that happened at Maplewood Apartments Saturday morning.
The report from police says officers arrived around 9:30 a.m. to the apartment complex on Longstreet Road. On arrival, officers found two women that had been stabbed and transported the victims to McLeod Medical Center.
One victim told police she was returning the other victim’s child and when she knocked on the apartment door, no one answered but the door was unlocked. When she entered the home, she saw the other victim was naked and in the bedroom with the suspect. The woman in the bedroom with the man began screaming that the suspect had sexually assaulted her, beat her and choked her out.
The suspect attacked the woman until the victim in the bedroom jumped on the suspect to stop him. The suspect then began stabbing the other woman. The victims were able to get away and take the children to a nearby apartment and call for help.
The report says one of the victims had multiple lacerations and puncture wounds in addition to a swollen neck and hemorrhaging on her neck that suggested asphyxia.
Chief David Lane with the Dillon Police Department said Monday that Tyreek Hayes, 22, turned himself in Sunday evening for the attack.
Hayes was charged with two counts of attempted murder, criminal sexual conduct first degree, kidnapping, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Booking records say that Hayes was taken to the Dillon County Detention Center on Oct. 2 but does not include a photo or bond information.
One of the victims went into surgery Saturday afternoon and the other was released from the hospital. Lane says that one of the victims still remains in the hospital.
