CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County police were called to Wayside Drive near Conway Sunday night about a shooting.
The report from police says when officers got on scene, they found a car that had been crashed into a ditch and a 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the right arm. The teen was taken to the hospital while Conway police helped Horry County officers track down the suspect at his home.
J Reuben Long booking records state 23-year-old Damin Howell of Conway has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and unlawful carrying of a pistol.
The report states that police believe the incident started as a drug deal and escalated to the shooting.
The report indicates another woman, 20-year-old Samantha Shane Whitaker, was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with the incident.
South Carolina Highway Patrol was also called to the scene to investigate the car that crashed into the ditch.
