A suspect has been charged after a hit and run in Myrtle Beach. 

Sgt. Shannon Toole, with the Myrtle Beach Police Department Traffic Unit, says officers responded to Ocean Boulevard and 5th Avenue North for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle around 10 p.m. on Monday. Officers arrived and determined that a male and a female were crossing Ocean Blvd. in a marked crosswalk, when they were struck by a vehicle traveling south bound on Ocean Blvd. The male pedestrian was not injured, but the female pedestrian suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. She was transported to a hospital for treatment. No information of her condition is available. 

According to Toole, the vehicle fled the scene of the collision and was found a short time later. The driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Erick Burgess, was arrested and charged. 

Myrtle Beach Police Department’s P2C says 40-year-old Erick Germaine Burgess is charged with DUI/felony driving while under the influence causing great bodily injury, hit and run causing great bodily injury, and failure to give information and render aid.
