Surfside Beach Town Council approved a move Tuesday night to reduce hourly fees for one of its parking lots.
Mayor Doug Samples says the parking lot is located on 13th Avenue South, between Ocean Boulevard and South Dogwood Drive. Hourly fees were reduced to 50 cents.
Town leaders hope the price reduction and new “value parking” will lure more drivers to use the parking lot. Samples says it is one of the less popular lots controlled by the town.
Leaders also eliminated a move to create value parking on 16th-17th Avenue North, originally considered in the ordinance.
