SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Surfside Beach Town Council passed final reading of an ordinance Tuesday night to increase hourly and daily parking rates in some areas of town.
Surfside Beach Mayor Doug Samples says the new rates will go into effect immediately.
The change will increase pay rates at pier parking stations from $1.50 to $2 per hour. It also applies a 50 cent increase to all other parking lots, meters and pay stations – raising hourly rates in those areas to $1.75. Value parking in the 13th Avenue South parking lot is established at 50 cents per hour.
Under the approved ordinance, daily charges will increase from $8 to $10. Town council also approved establishing free one-hour parking on Surfside Drive.
