SUMTER, SC (WBTW) – A Sumter woman is charged with filing a false police report and resisting arrest after deputies discovered the rape allegations she made against a man were not true.
Public Information Officer Ken Bell with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested 18-year-old Khrista Talbott Tuesday after she falsified a police report claiming she had been raped just days earlier. The arrest warrant for Talbott states on April 9 she reported that she has been sexually assaulted at a home on Pond Loop Road.
Deputies investigated the claim and discovered that the incident did not happen, Bell explains.
When deputies attempted to place Talbott in handcuffs during her arrest, she pulled away, began screaming at the deputies and refused to cooperate, resulting in the additional change of resisting arrest.
