SUMTER, S.C. (WBTW)- A Sumter man is in jail after police say he shot into a residence with four people inside, including two children.

Deputies arrested 19-year-old Nicholas Keith Scudder for a shooting that happened in December.

According to deputies, Scudder shot a handgun into a residence on Brice Circle on December 7, 2015. There were two adults and two children, ages 2 and 14, inside at the time.

Investigators found several bullet holes in the residence, as well as shell casings.

Sumter Police arrested Scudder in February, and found a handgun in his position.

SLED matched the shell casings found inside the residence to the handgun Scudder had when he was arrested.

Deputies say a witness told them he or she saw Scudder two days before the shooting with a handgun of the same caliber as the one used in the shooting.

Nicholas Scudder faces four charges of attempted murder.

He is held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center without bond.
